Shinsekai & Tsutenkaku

This morning, I was on a mission to find gachapon. Interestingly, the place with the largest selection in Japan was just one station over in Osaka. This store had over 600 gachapon machines. They had a lot of what I had seen, but I was seeking out an odder selection.

So, looking online where else to look I was pointed toward Shinsekai Market. A shopping district just a bit south.

While there, I stumbled upon a very grungy arcade.

There were many nonfunctional machines here, it was an interesting vibe. Oddly, not a dangerous one.

1/24/2025 Update:

Sadly, this arcade has burned down. After referencing some images in this article and the ones I took, I was able to confirm it was the same. It is a shame that a lot of retro machines are lost, especially for the tourists that had this arcade as a destination.

One of the floors also contained two old versions of the horse racing betting game I had seen.

At the end of the streets, they intersected with the Tsutenkaku Tower. Which in addition to its massive line to get on to the observation deck, had this mosaic on the underside.

Nearby I stumbled upon a candy store. This didn’t specifically interest me, but what was on the second floor did. There was a store dedicated to Pringles. And it certainly was. They had all the shirts, gacha, chopsticks, keychains, etc. that you could so desire.
